I have heard from many people that the chances of getting into a B-school in Round 1 are just as good as in Round 2, so if you would benefit by waiting, then that is the thing to do.
But what happens when a school has an Early Action deadline? For example:
UNC Deadlines:
10/22/10 - Early Action
12/3/10
1/7/11
3/18/11
Vanderbilt Deadlines:
10/18/10 - Early Action
11/15/10
1/10/11
2/28/11
Would you consider the 1/7 deadline for UNC to be Round 2 or Round 3? What are the chances of getting in if I shot for the 1/7 deadline as opposed to the 12/3 deadline?
Any information would be much appreciated.

early round usually means if you get admit you have to pay some money upfront to save your spot - in some cases like duke, cbs they force you to stop all other apps if you get admit or supposedly they can pursue legal actions against you since you AGREED to that part in the app. So i would check what schools makes it MANDATORY for you to pay AND for you to drop all apps and what schools dont.

I'm not sure if that really answers my question. My plan isn't to apply EA. For UNC I am going to apply either for the 12/3 deadline or for the 1/7 deadline, but since the 1/7 deadline is technically the 3rd deadline, I don't want to jeopardize my chances of getting in by waiting too long. What I really want to know is if the 1/7 deadline is like a traditional 2nd round deadline, where the chances of getting in are similar as the round before it, or if it is considered a 3rd round deadline, which would most likely be too late to have a good chance of admission.
Any ideas?
