Does p^2=q if p is prime?

1. q^2-p^2=0
2. p^2=49

a) 1 is sufficient
b) 2 is sufficient
c) 1 & 2 together are sufficient
d) Either 1 or 2 is sufficient
e) Neither 1 nor 2 is sufficient

1) p^2-q^2 = 0
p^2=q^2

suff

stmt 1 says that q^2 = p^2. Now, p^2 = q only if p = q = 1. But, then p is not prime. Hence, this answers the question. Hence, sufficient.

I get A.

From the stem we know P is prime and any prime number multiplied by any other number will result in a non prime number. So Q is definitely not a prime number.

1. q^2-p^2=0

q^2 = p^2

q = p

We already determined q is not prime and p is, so this must be false.

2. p^2=49

p = 7,-7

Not enough information.
