Does taking IELT affect admission chance in the US?  [#permalink]

From many sources on the Internet, I gathered that IELT is preferred by the Commonwealth nations, but the bias is slight. However, in the US, apparently TOEFL is "mandatory" for many programs, with some universities even straight out demand TOEFL ONLY, and that worries me a bit.

I have taken the IELT twice before, but I didn't aim for the US at that time. Should I switch to the TOEFL?
