hi,
i am bulgarian, and my native tongue is not english. b-shools will look at both your TOEFL and GMAT verbal and quant parts. I do not know of any schools who will not look at your verbal on the GMAT and will be willing to substitute it for the TOEFL one. the verbal part on the GMAT is extremely important especially if you're international. even though most students score higher on the quant part, scoring high on the verbal part will be a big plus in the eyes of any adcom member. my advise - get kaplan 2005 + cd, get the OG and maybe PR and prepare really good for the verbal part - it is tough, even though i havent taken the test yet, i have a lot of buddies who took the test and said that comparing to the verbal on the TOEFL , the one of the gmat is much harder. if you have received your undergrad degree from an institution where the main language of instrution was english you dont have to take the TOEFL. i got my undergrad in the states so i dont have to take the TOEFL again I took it in 1999 when i applied for my undergrad and i scored 660 , which i believe is either 98 of 99th percentile without studying that much. the reason for that was that the verbal part on the TOEFL is a joke when compared to the one on the GMAT, so take my word - the verbal part on the GMAT is not easy, but is not impossible to score high on. since this is your weak area focus on it and improve. hope that helps.
