Well ladies and gentlemen.
My average on practice CAT exams over the last month came out around a blockbusting score of 440.
I took the GMAT over the weekend and when the score came back as 620 (38Q, 37V) I almost died laughing.
The fact is I have a passion for gambling and rolling dice.
While taking the test I would run into problems that I clearly had no idea how to solve (mainly Quant.). Normally I would panic, but instead I decided to throw away my dreams of obtaining an MBA during question number 2, by just guessing. Though, for whatever reason, the questions never became easier.... I began to think that my actual throwing away of $250 on signing up for the test and just guessing on every problem was a testimate to what I really needed to do; start my own business. The midway break came and after realizing that I had completed the first section in 20 minutes by just guessing didn't upset me one bit. I obviously went onto the verbal section next. Verbal was not as difficult, as I am a native English speaker.
Needless to say... the score came out as 620. The most destructive thing I could have possibly ever done to an investment ($250); ended up being just another positive.
Despite my terrible luck at winning money at Casinos... I just hit it big by letting it ride on black!
This score might not be very impressive to most on this forum, but I have no intentions of attending a top B-School. Fortunately/unfortunately due to where I am in my career today I am only looking to attend the local state university.
I do not recommend "rolling the dice" to anyone. Essentially what I did was let casino chips ride on black 30+ times in roulette without losing much.... Impossible odds.
