14 rejections, 1 interview and 2 waitlists over 2 application cycles later, these are my 2 cents on the Dos and Don'ts of the MBA Application process:
1. Don’t overthink; just keep fighting. Consistent progress is key.
2. Understand the entire application process in full depth and detail.
3. Don’t be in denial about anything; be real.
4. Don’t believe in anecdotal evidence; it is not representative of reality.
5. Don’t take test prep for granted.
6. Don’t take profile development for granted.
7. Don’t take networking for granted.
8. Don’t take mental health for granted.
9. Be positive, be patient, and be kind to yourself.
10. MBA is just a stepping-stone, and is not worth compromising peace of mind.
11. Believe in yourself; you can, and you will.
12. Set the bar high (for everything). Don’t settle for less; you deserve more.
I am struggling to internalize the above thoughts, and posting here is my way of affirming them. My words may sound a bit skeptical, yet the underlying thought is very optimistic (you see I am still trying). I hope you find it useful.
