very much in the same position here, wondering whether or not to go back and finish my minor in poli sci, already completed my BBA and my gpa is also 2.8. I think my goal is to get a job right now to put another years experience under my belt before matriculation.

I think that's a good decision to make. Instead of spending another 2 or 3 years completing another major, it's wise to get some experience under your belt. Let's face it, we're all in a time crunch here, with the average age of top b-school to be around 27 or 28. Most of us don't have another 2 or 3 years to play around. Put those several years between college and b-school to some good corporate experience and I think that will always be better than earning another college degree.

Only go back and earn another degree if you want to broaden your knowledge. As far as I know, b-schools won't care about your major, but they'll care about what you do post-college. By going back right now, you won't be able to really concentrate on a full-time corporate job. Most matriculates to top b-schools have an average of 4 to 5 years of full-time work experience. If all you want to do is show the adcoms that you can do the work (because of a lower than average GPA), take a few classes with your school or with some reputable online extension courses and ace them. Then of course, you have the GMAT to showcase your intellect as well. But personally speaking, i wouldn't just go back to college to earn another degree for the sake of going to b-school.

25 , Hispanic male. It took me 6 years to graduate with a 2.8 gpa, and I currently work as a personal banker. I was a professional bassist in college playing in bands and doing studio time. I believe my musical career was the only reason for my poor performance in college. I want to go back and earn an economics degree because I have always been interested in that subject and I simply enjoy learning. what I am worried about is my WE. Although I do quality work, How do the adcoms view such a position or retail banking in general ? If I score a 700+, how are my chances at Emory, kenan Flagler, Georgetown, Cornell. Thanks !

I think with a 700 or over, you should have a shot at Emory, UNC, GT, and Johnson will be hard.
