I am an IT consultant and has been working at the client site for the past 3 yrs.The client is willing to give me recommendation letters. Is that OK to do? The reason I choose the client is,the firm which employs me would have no idea about my abilities.

Pls suggest.

totally ok.

some schools are pretty direct about using direct supervisors. in that case, simply say, "such and such has the most direct experience with my recent work...blahblahblah"
