Hi GmatClub, First of all, I apologize if this is silly - I just wanna clarify this doubt once and for all :p
When we read nouns like the government, the media, the department of xyz, the company, the post office, etc. we use singular pronouns to refer to them, yes? so using 'it' would be correct and using 'they' and 'them' would be wrong? how about verbs?
Again, I apologize if this is silly I just get confused with plural and singular.

Verbs are singular too (typically).
The government has decided to .... An army marches on its stomach. The company was struggling in those days.
