Doubts on my new quantitative score: 49  [#permalink]

Hello guys, I have a few questions to ask for being aware of some circumstances in the next practice exams.

Is it possible to make 12 mistakes and still get a 49 in Quantitative section? In the 1st attempt i made the same number of errors and took 44, but i think that time, especially in the 1st - 2nd part of the test (from 1 to 27 question) i made silly mistakes in easy concepts, fact that occured even this time at least once, but much less than the 1st attempt.

For people who already took GMATPrep FREE exams: is it normal that some questions (maybe 3 or 4) appeared again after having already took the 1st free available exam? Anyway one of these four was really easy to resolve in less than 20 seconds and didnt bring relevant problems, while another one already appeared in the 1st one but i didnt remember the right answer, while the last one or twos already appeared and remembered exactly the right answer, therefore this saved me some seconds.. is everyone facing this problem when taking these tests? What do you recommend to avoid these system mistakes? I'm note pretty sure my last quantitative score is 100% reliable since it was helpful to know in advance two questions. The majority of mistakes i made occured in the last part since it seemed like only tough questions appeared and had few minutes to resolve the last ones, so i wasnt in the conditions to resolve the lasts with enough speed, infact 35-36-37 were all incorrect. I think this penalyzed my score.

Tell me your experiences, i'll be grateful.

That's odd. The test should not give you repeat questions, unless it has been reset. Did you take the tests online or offline? I'm guessing you took the offline version as you mention question numbers 35, 36, and 37 in the quantitative section.

yes i took the test with 37 questions, and i have never pressed the button reset.. what does it change if i press reset? Is this a method which brings or avoids the repeating questions?

Reset tells the test to "forget" which questions have already been shown to you. After a reset, the test will choose from the entire pool of questions, irrespective of whether you've already done those questions.

The reliability of your score is a bit lower than what it would have been if you weren't already familiar with those 4 questions, so we should "discount" your Q49 a bit. If you want to be on the safe side, just assume that you're in the 46-49 range, especially if you feel that you had made some improvements to your quant after that first Q44. Note that this doesn't mean that you'll always get a score like this. It just means that you're capable of getting (at least) this score.

Don't worry too much about this though. As you take more practice tests, you won't need to think so hard about this particular test.
