Since I am taking GMAT on Tuesday, I stopped by at the test center to familiarize myself with the setting. They didn't let me see the actual room, so a little exam-anxiety is still there though.
During my brief conversation with the person at the front desk, she informed me that I will NOT be allowed to write anything on the booklet until the clock/exam starts. Not even during the tutorial or the breaks (yes, I specifically asked).
Based on suggestions, I have practiced taking GMAT by drawing ABCDE answer grid on the booklet pages. I generally need 4-5 sheets in Math, and 2 in verbal section. Now, I am not sure what to do.
When do you write/draw grid? I don't think, sacrificing a minute up-front from the precious exam time is a good idea.
Do you think, she misinformed me and I will actually be able to draw the grid on a few pages? If not, is there an alternative?

You have screens to click through after the test center folks sign you in before you begin and after your break (assuming you don't run over on your break time). The proctor normally signs you in and leaves.
You should have an opportunity to set something up during those screens.
