In a tricky situation. Was laid off from my job back in October and am currently in a part-time MBA program at Boston University. As of right now, I am planning on transitioning to a full-time schedule and wrapping up the MBA by May, 2020 (vs December, 2020 if I stay a part-time student). Meanwhile, I have been talking to a company out in LA for a role which sounds amazing. It is a "step up the ladder" and would enable me to build out a program and hire/manage a team, which I've never done before but am very excited by the prospect. The challenge is that I cannot transfer to a part-time MBA program in SoCal (part-time MBA programs, for some reason, make transferring nearly impossible), and it is highly unlikely the company would wait until May for me to wrap up my MBA if I were to switch to a full-time schedule. They're really interested in me, and seems like they will likely throw me a really good offer (still in the interview process, but things seem very promising).
Thus, the dilemma here is...do I take this job now or stay and complete my MBA program in May. I know there should be plenty more jobs available in the spring vs now due to the seasonality of hiring, but I'm not sure I'll find another role quite like this one. I'm also interested in getting out of Boston, and I do like the idea of living in LA. On the other hand, I've already invested 2 years and about 50 grand in the MBA. Overall, I haven't felt it's been a hugely valuable thing for me (networking opportunities in a part-time MBA seem sorely lacking), but I'm pretty darn close to having the degree. I'm honestly torn. Anyone have any advice? Personal anecdotes?
