x is divisible by 3. Therefore x^2 is divisible by 9. Therefore x^2 * <something> is also divisible by 9.

Statement 2:

x*y is divisible by 9. Therefore x^2 * y^2 is divisible by 9 too. Therefore x^2 * y^2 * <something> is divisible by 9 too.

Sorry guys. Ans is E. Coz X^2Y^4 could be 1 and not divisible by 9 when x=81, & Y= 1/9 :-D
