my reasoning is not much shorter, anyway:
2 printers together: 25/3 pag/min
printer B= 40/x pag/min
printer A= 40/(X+4) pag/min

40/x+40/(x+4)=25/3
this is a 2nd degree equation, whose only positive solution is 8.
this means that printer A prints 40 pages in 8+4=12 minutes
and 80 pages in 24 minutes
