Answer is D - each statement is self sufficient.
What is the OA? Or was I too quick to the answer? :-D

But check (1)if x=4.5, x^2=20.25, x^2 rounded to the nearest integer is 20. INSUFF

Correct. I go with E.
In both cases we cant be sure that x is exactly equal to 5 ( only in this case x^2 is exactly 25 ).
wat is OA?

I think it should be E, as there's >1 number that would satisfy each equation.

OE says its B
From statement 2, x^3 rounded to the nearest integer is 125, 4.99<x
<5.01,then x^2 is rounded to 25. SUFF.

Look at the question
"If x is a positive number, rounded to the nearest integer, is x^2 equal to 25?"

That means x is rounded to the nearest integer before squaring.
Is 4.5 4 or 5 - depending on that the answer changes - if it is 4, then statement 1 is insufficient.

According to statement 2, x has to be > 4.99 and less than 5. So it looks like that also satisfies.

Or maybe I am just beating about the bush!

So it is either B or D now depending on how you take statement 1.

So then Statement 1 is insufficient then. In that sense B is the right answer.
