I think it's C

The marines could have been aware of the inadequacy of the regulations but still took no action. Nothing in the passage contradicts it

Paul, what is the source of the question?

A looks good to me. The officials may have had more knowledge about the inadequecy than the public.

I choose C. This is a crappy question in my opinion. I don't think any of those statements can be inferred from the stimulus.

OA is C
OE: Each of the other answer choices is stronly implied in the passage. However, the passage offers no evidence one way or another concerning the awareness of those responsible for lifeboat regulations of their own inadequacy.

This CR comes from Peterson's GMAT CAT
My thoughts: As I went through their CR, I found many difficult ones and some were really vague, such as this one. They organize their CR by sessions of 14 questions with 25 min. each. Most of their questions are EXCEPT questions and are really tricky and as you know, EXCEPT questions can be quite time consuming. I'm happy to know I'm not the only not liking this question. Actually, there are many more that are just of dubious quality. Conclusion: although I liked their SC, most of their CR are just plain bad, IMO.

Yeah, I don't like Petersons stuff. Let me tell you from my experience with the LSAT, these peterson questions would never have come close to being endorsed by the agency that produces the LSAT material. Inferred has a very strong logical meaning. "probably implied" would be better, but regardless, this question is poorly structured and poorly supported.
