Hey everyone,
I could really use some help with this decision because I’ve been going back and forth, and I still don’t know what to do.
I'm a NC native and recently got accepted into:
Duke’s MQM: Business Analytics (Marketing track) – 10-month, in-person
NC State’s Master of Marketing Analytics (MMA) – 2-year, fully online with study abroad options
I’m interested in marketing and business analytics, something that blends data with strategy and storytelling. Not trying to become a data scientist just yet, but I want strong, versatile skills that will help me land a solid remote or hybrid job in marketing analytics, consulting, or something similar.
The biggest issue for me is the cost.
Duke: Total is $85,600 before living expenses (which I know will add a lot more).
NC State: Total is $42,974. Fully online, so I can work while studying and avoid relocation costs.
I keep asking myself: is the Duke name and network really worth over $40K more? I know the program is elite and comes with some strong career connections, but that’s a lot of money. I'm nervous about taking on that kind of debt. On the other hand, I worry that if I go with the cheaper option, I might be closing doors later on.
I just want to make the smartest long-term choice, but right now it feels like a gamble either way.
