Hi, I just wanted to clarify something regarding the oft mentioned term "700 level". Since a 700 is a roughly an overall score of 90%, are we talking about 90% percentile level on just quant? In other words a score of 49-50?
The reason I am asking is that I have scored 700 on practice tests with a quant score far lower than 90% (raw score of 44, or about high 60s low 70s percentile) due to having a high verbal. My goal is to boost my quant up to 80th percentile for a balanced score and hopefully have 710-730 overall. I am asking for clarification so I can better evaluate my current level.
Thank you.

700 total. Not all 700's are built the same. I have heard that admissions are concerned when the breakdown is skewed more towards a particular section. Ideally, 80% or higher on both sections.
I believe you can get 8x% on both sections and still score in the 90% overall.
