During Lunch at their favourite place, Karishma and Shubham enter a racing bet. Karishma bets that even if she starts driving 4 minutes after Shubham , she will beat him by 4 miles . Karishma wins the bet after t minutes of driving and stops to wait for Shubham .If both Shubham and Karishma drive at constant speeds throughout , does Shubham drive more than 22 miles till the time Karishma stops ?
(1) Shubham drives 0.25 miles per minute slower than Karishma does
(2) Karishma is 3 miles behind Shubham when she starts

time taken by Karishma (K) = t there fore time taken by Shubham (S) = t+4 min
let speed of K=k and S =s
eqn from given data tk=(t+4)s+4.......(i)
we have to find if (t+4)s > 22
from statement 1) k=s+0.25
thus eqn becomes t(s+0.25)=(t+4)s+4
ts+0.25t=ts+4s+4
0.25t=4s+4...........(ii)
since 2 variable cant be solved
(t+4)s cant be found
statement 1 in itself not sufficient
from Statement 2) karishma starts after 4min
thus 4s=3 s=3/4 ........(iii)
still we don't know t so (t+4)s cant be found
but if we combine statement 1 &2
eqn (ii) & (iii) can be combined and t & s values can be determined
thus (t+4)s can be determined
So option C
