During the cellular aging process, fibroblasts, the most common connective tissue cells, lose their ability of contraction, and lead to stiffness due to reduced connective tissues.

Option Elimination -

A. lose their ability of contraction, and lead to - "and" is wrong to convey the cause-effect relationship.

B. in their ability to contract, lose it, leading to - "it" refers to "ability"? So, "fibroblasts, in their ability, lose ability? Illogical meaning.

C. because of having the ability of contracting, lead to - not the intended meaning. "ability of contracting" is wrong.

D. lose their ability for contracting, leading to - we need "ability to"

E. lose their ability to contract, leading to - ok
