e-GMAT strategy

Question

Hi,

I'm 40 days out studying with e-gmat. I'm 60% done with verbal and need to do quant and mock testing. I'm thinking I should not finish verbal and move on to quant. I can only study 2 hours a day/ 7 days a week. any advice would be appreciated.

1) When is your exact Test Date?
2) Have you taken ANY practice CATs yet? If you have, then how did you score?
3) What is your score goal?

My test date is April 9. I have not taken any practice CAT yet. My score goal is 600.

Hi Crystal Saut,

Since your GMAT is around a month away from today, the first thing you should do this weekend is to take a mock CAT. Make sure you take the test including the AWA and the IR.

Once you have the score, analyze the test thoroughly and find out your weak areas and sub sections such as SC, CR, RC, PS and DS. Regarding the preparation, it is good to take both Quants and Verbal all along. So yes, you should start with Quants now.

Hi Crystal Saut,

Taking FULL-LENGTH CATs (with the Essay and IR sections) under realistic conditions is an essential part of the training process. As such, you should plan to take 1 CAT every week or so from now on. Until we have a full CAT score, we really have no way of knowing what you should be focusing on right now (or what adjustments you should make to your study plan). Thus, you should plan to take a FULL CAT soon (this weekend, if possible). Thankfully, your score goal is modest, but your Test Date is just 5 weeks away - so you'll have to be efficient and organized with your remaining study time.
