Total Students=180

80% male => 0.8 × 180 = 144 males
So females = 36
Let online students = x
30% of online are female
=> Female online = 0.3x
=> Male online = 0.7x

Female in person = 36−0.3x
Ratio: Male online : Female in person = 7 : 2
Male Online/Female in Person = 7/2

=> 0.7x/(36-0.3x)= 7/2

Solving this we get x = 72

Each of the 180 students in a certain coding course is either male or female, and each student attends either in person or online. 80% of the students in the course are male, and 30% of the online students are female. If for every seven male students who attend online there are two female students who attend in person, how many of the 180 students attend online?

A. 18
B. 36
C. 40
D. 72

online0.7p0.3pP
In-person m
total14436180

now there is ratio for online men and in person female and its given as 7:2
online male = 0.7p
in person female = m

0.7p / m = 7/2
m = 0.2p

we know 0.3p + m = 36
0.5p = 36
p = 72

so total online students =
male = 50.4
female = 21.6
total = 72
