Each of the 600 cars in a certain parking lot is either a hatchback or a sedan. How many of the hatchbacks are electric?

The total number of vehicles in the parking lot is 600.
The vehicles are either sedan or hatchback.
We need to find the number of hatch back electric. ?
Let’s create a 2*2 matrix

Statement 1:
75% of all cars in the parking lot are electric.
(3/4)*600 = 450 cars are electric.
So. 150 cars are not electric.

We cannot find the number of Hatchback Electric.
Hence, Insufficient.
Statement 2:
The number of electric sedans is 25% more than the number of electric hatchbacks.

| Total | 9x | 600 |
Electric sedan = (5/4)* Electric Hatchback
Electric sedan: Electric hatchback = 5x : 4x
We cannot find the number of Hatchback Electric.

Combining both statements , we get

Let the number of Electric hatchbacks be EH, number of Electric sedans be ES, Non-Electric hatchbacks be NEH and Non-Electric sedans be NES.
EH + ES + NEH + NES = 600
Now, let's look at each statement individually and then at both of them together (if required):
Statement 1: 75% of all cars in the parking lot are electric.
=> 75% of 600 = 450
=> EH + ES = 450
However, this doesn't tell us anything about the value of EH. Thus, this statement is insufficient alone.
Now, let's take a look at Statement 2 closely:
Statement 2: The number of electric sedans is 25% more than the number of electric hatchbacks.
=> ES = 5/4 * EH
However, we still cannot calculate the value of EH using this statement alone. Thus, Statement 2 is insufficient alone too.
Now, let's look at the combination of both the statements:
=> EH + ES = 450
=> ES = 5/4 * EH
=> EH + 5/4 * EH = 450
Thus, 9/4 * EH = 450
=> EH = 200
Hence, the correct answer is Option C - BOTH statements together are sufficient, but NEITHER statement alone is sufficient.
