IMO,
The choice is between C and E.
And the major difference between C and E is the position of adverb "increasingly."
While an adverb can modify both verb(create) in E as well as participle(unrelated) as in C.
However, its role in E makes more sense to me.
"Increasinly unrelated" is not making sense to me.
Don't know how the OA is C though :(
If some expert could look into this.It would be of great help.

+1 for C.

We do not split the infinitive. (to + verb) => inserting an adverb in between to and verb.

companies to increasingly create

E does that and is out.

+1 for C

But i have 1 doubt here

(C )looks the best choice but it is changing the meaning with the use of word "unrelated" and with this intended meaning will be changed

whereas in (E) the intended meaning is correct but the word "relation" looks awkward.

So can anyone clear my doubt?

”That are increasingly less related” is an essential modification of new divisions. We can’t afford to either dilute or distort that theme. That is why C is out. Unrelatedness is not the same as increasingly less relatedness.

In D, the increasingly less relatedness modifies companies. Gone.

In E ‘increasingly’ is modifying ‘create’, which is again an altered intent.

Between A and B,
In A, setting off ‘increasingly’ within parenthesis is wrong. B is straight and clear. The right choice

I am now a little confussed as to why is C right ? Isnt the so called meaning changed in C? how can less related be changed to unrelated , twor different things ..

I would go with B as well. ( though to create - infinitive in C is better than to the creation - prepositional modifier acting as an adjective modifying noun "companies" in B)

C for me.

Here is my explanation:

a) to the creation of new divisions that are, increasingly, less related [Wordy] [GMAT prefers concise anguage - so ignore]

b)the creation of new divisions that are increasingly less related [I have eliminated it because less cannot beused with divisions]

c) create new divisions that are increasingly unrelated. [Concise and clear]

d) + e) Increasingly [Avoid -ly as much as you can on GMAT]

Hope it helps.

"increasingly unrelated" - doesn't sound convincing in C.

B from me.

My bet is on E.

I Strongly feel 'C' is out -- unrelated changes the meaning of the sentence.

Here 'increasingly' refers to what , I mean modify what : 'create'. So 'increasingly less related' in B doesn't makes much sense to me.

I go with E.

Experts Pls comment.

'C'

If we read just the underlined text...we might arrive at a different answer.....but when we read te entire text
lead growing companies to the creation of doesnt make sense. companies-noun.....creation-noun.....growing companies havnt led to the creation....arrogance has....we need to use a verb form after companies-to create....C is the only option.

....but even I am confused by the 'increasingly unrelated'.....
