Insead has a larger and a more international alumni. It has also an alliance with Wharton whereas other b-school such as HEC or LBS only have an exchange programme. Also Insead has a shared alumni services with Harvard, Stanford and Kellogg. The largest destination of Insead graduates is actually London.

And rankings are a joke. FT ranking '08: Columbia above Harvard and Stanford, Kellogg 24th. That is just ridiculous.
The only kind ranking I find relevant is gmat club's cluster system. IMO, Insead would probably fall under the UE cluster. LBS under the E cluster and schools like HEC, IE, ESADE, Warwick would fall under the Trans-E cluster.

Rankings are discussed very well in the main b-school application. I wouldn't say it's a joke. it all depends on every individuals personal weighting for each criteria they deem to be important.
