Hey fellow GmatClubbers,
I have a question regarding European GPA conversion to the US system. I come from the Czech Republic and we use a system of A B C D E (passing grades) F (failing grade). The values of each grade are A=1 B=1.5 C=2 D=2.5 E=3 F=4. Since my GPA was very low at a Czech top 3 school (2.3 in the Czech system) I do not want to draw too much attention to it, although I have pretty good reasons for the low grades (was a professional sportsman and represented my country while studying undergrad). My GPA improved to 1.6 in graduate studies. On my second graduate program I was busy working on my own enterprise and at regular job so my GPA there is really low. I also have a 730 GMAT, so I am hoping to alleviate the concerns about low GPA that way.
I am wondering if anyone here is familiar with the correct conversion of our 5 passing grades to the US system (logic would say that our A = 4.0 US, then B = 3.25 US ect. to E = 1.0 US). I tried searching here and on the web, but didn't come up with a definite answer. Also, do undergrads in the U.S. pass final state exams and if so, are the grades included in the GPA?
Thanks!
