EDIT: I got my 700!!!!! today on 09.09.09!!!

I think I have an issue.
On my test days, I'm either good at math or good at verbal--never both.
Taken the GMAT three times so far:
(1) 8/18/2007: 640 - Q48, V29
(2) 1/26/2008: 680 - Q44, V39
(3) 7/25/2009: 660 - Q39, V40
(4) 9/09/2009: 700 - Q48, V38
???? Every time I run the GMAT Prep, I score between 48 and 49 and Verbal is around 40-42.
I have NO clue why I'm actually getting worse at Quant. I have a solid foundation but maybe not???
I saw the post on advice to make the jump to 700 but I'm just so frustrated!!! If I could only keep my Q48 and maintain my V40, I'd be done. Instead, the disconnect is DRIVING ME INSANE!!!

This must be maddening. The only thought I have is that your tests are 6 months, and 18 months apart - that's really long by GMAT standards.
So, I have to compliment you on the Verbal improvement - fantastic job going from 29 to 40 - very few are able to do it.
Did you put most of your focus into verbal and crossed off Math? or did you practice them equally?

Thanks--the verbal improvement was all RC. I was able to figure out that my SC and CR was pretty sound but I was missing a LOT of RC questions (in a row).
Once I figured that out, my verbal jumped dramatically.
I always practiced both verbal and quant, focusing mostly on my DS--since I typically miss 7 or 8 DS and only 2 or 3 PS.
I'm stuck. My last quant score means I'm missing really easy stuff--which could be the case but man...what a bummer. I think I'll take yet another pass at this test in hopes to get my quant back up and maintain my verbal.
New approach: Study Quant to Verbal in a 3:1 ratio. Starting back to the basics, working my way up until I can score in the 90% on the Quant tests posted here.
(Sigh).
