Emma and Nora are jogging at different constant rates in the same direction on a straight path. If Emma is now 40 meters ahead of Nora, how many seconds from now will Nora be 80 meters ahead of Emma?

To find: Time in seconds , when Nora will be 80 metres ahead of Emma.
Statement 1: (1) 30 seconds ago, Emma was 70 meters ahead of Nora.
30 seconds, Emma is 70 metres ahead of Nora.
After 30 seconds, Emma is 40 metres ahead of Nora.
Relative Speed is 30 mts in 30 seconds.
80 metres ahead is after you have crossed 40 metres. Total distance is 120 metres.
Time taken is 120 seconds. Hence,
Sufficient Statement 2:(2) Emma is jogging at 240 meters per minute and Nora is jogging at 300 meters per minute.
Emma speed = 240 metres in 60 seconds = 4 m/s.
Nora Speed = 300 metres in 60 seconds = 5 m/s.
Relative Speed = (5-4)m/s = 1 m/s.
80 metres ahead is after you have crossed 40 metres. Total distance is 120 metres.
