I've heard of a few people who posted similar topics with the intention of ending up in the finance industry. My situation is a little different because ultimately I would like to end up in business administration. My question is will an MS in Finance hurt my chances of getting into a top tier MBA program? I'm currently working in an engineering leadership development program and my company will pay for grad school so I plan on getting the degree online. My intent is to broaden my educational background as well as distance myself from being viewed as an engineer. I've always had a strong interest in finance and my goal is to use to better understand business however I don’t plan on ever entering into a Finance position. Will business school look at this as a sign of having no direction? Can getting a degree for the sake of education harm my chances at a top MBA program?
