Hi All,
I am experiencing the same difficult decision that many already went through I guess!
I got offers from boths schools but with 15k scholarship from ESADE.
My objective is to get into a Leadership Development Programme or MBA rotational program in any sector (from IBM to Amazon, etc.). I am 100% flexible on location.
I know IESE's brand is superior to ESADE, but how do they compare in terms of positions in GM/Operations and access to rotational programs?
Trying to understand if it worth taking the extra debt to pursue IESE (I would loan 80% of the fee against 52k for ESADE).
I would love the case study method and 2 years at IESE.
Any suggestion is very welcome!! Thanks everyone!
Background: 34yo mechanical engineer with 4y experience in project management, currently lead mechanical engineer leading team of 6 delivering ÂŁ1m in revenue (design consultancy oil and gas). 2y experience in manufacturing sector (quality assurance). 3y work as teacher.

Yes, the IESE and ESADE debate has been going on for a while.
I would say in general the higher ranked program will be better across the board and esp in areas such as general management. This has to do with the caliber of students, alumni, and also more selective process, tends to make the program more exclusive and prestigious. At the same time, it is good you are looking at other things such as goals after MBA and learning environment.
I would say if you like case method, definitely go for it. You learn so much more and it makes each class challenging and motivating (some folks don't like it and it took me a long time to get used to them, though mostly that came from not knowing/learning/being ignorant of frameworks to use with case studies).
On the flip side ESADE tends to have slightly more seasoned applicants (6 years vs. 5 years of work experience at IESE). At 34, you will be more experienced than most. You will have the most decorated resume but it also presents challenges with recruiting. Challenge is perhaps not the right word but your path will be different from someone who is 26 for example. Usually folks assume it is better to have more experience than less but sometimes it is not when it comes to traditional MBA recruiting path. See this post from a few years ago - this is US-based but gives you an idea of potentially what to prepare yourself for. It helps if you have good and well known brands on your resume. However, if you have a longer work history of generally unknown companies, it is trickier to get a job and in that case, I would definitely recommend a higher-ranked school to offset some of the branding lack on the resume. https://gmatclub.com/forum/mba-after-30 ... 00397.html
Ultimately, you will make it either way and will succeed with either decision. I am yet to find a person on GMAT Club who regrets doing an MBA (if someone does, please get in touch with me - I would love to talk to them), and MBA remains a powerful transformation process.

Congrats on both admissions!
I may be a bit biased as I am a class of 2022 IESE MBA candidate but I would go definitely for IESE if the additional debt to secure is not such a critical topic for you (consider that the local banks in Spain offer very attractive loans so I wouldn’t see it as a problem).
IESE is the place to go specifically to master general management skills because of its focus and program structure, and also from a recruitment standpoint, excluding consulting and IB, the majority of candidates are placed in general management / graduate programs across tech (Amazon is one of the biggest employers) and any other industry.
Ranking and “prestige” wise they also belong to different tiers with IESE competing in Europe with INSEAD and LBS, and in US with Ivy League b schools.
