Well i am currently a student at ESCP, so i guess i am decently qualified to answer this question.
Also though the post is really old, and the person must have moved on long ago, these are some questions which plague a lot of students. So ill try my best to answer them.
1) How much do you think the language will play a role in career search ?
Ans. Well in European countries, it is a pretty big deal if you know their language. This is especially true in France, where to leverage the full potential of the school, knowing the language is a must. That said, there are a number of people who speak broken french but are till able to secure really good jobs, in france and beyond. Mind you its not super easy, but its manageable.
2) In the long run, do you think it is really worth spending 3 years ( 2 yeards academic + 1 year compulsory internship ) on a Masters degree and NOT an MBA ?
Ans. DEFINITELY! Its a really amazing degree, and i am having the best experience of my life here. You get really good oportunities, similar to any MBA school. Also the 1 year internship is only compulsory if you have zero work experience. If you have any relevant internship or earlier work experience, you can get it validated and get done with school in 2 years or even 1.5 years( if you take the summer semester)
3)Does anyone have any concrete information about the school's career services, placements- sector wise. avg salary quoted in the web site is decent, but anyone with anything more ?
Ans. You can usually drop a mail to the career services, and theyll send you a list of companies that come on campus, the % breakup of students which get a job in different sectors and their locations. The median salary is quoted in the FT rankings, so you can get a fair idea about them from the site. But a MiM can easily get you jobs above 50000 euros. Thirdly go to Linkedin and get in touch with an alum, theyll surely help you out.
Also you can just type MiM-Essay help on google, we have a site which is dedicated to the MiM and will be glad to help you out.
4)any other top 1 year programs u suggest , apart from LBS/LSE ?
Ans. IE, St. galles, RSM, Bocconi, ESSEC! The list is huge, most of the top 10-15 ranked MiM colleges are really great places to study in
and lastly, age is just a number. I will be well into 26 by the time i graduate. But i am really forward to kicking some butt when i do!
ESCP has really opened quite some doors, its up to you to go through them.
