Hi Prabhjeet.

Your ESR shows that you need to work some on all topics of Verbal. For some ideas on how to do so, see this video.

Regarding Quant, you need to study Geometry. It's an important topic, and you didn't any Geometry questions correct.

Number properties is an area of opportunity as well.

Thanks a lot Rich for such a quick reply.

Please find my responses below here:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?
-I have been studying from a long time, but it has never been consistent. However, from last 2 months i was giving around 3-4 hours every day.
2) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
-For verbal, i only did official questions.
For Quant, I did official, GMAT club tests, and Manhattan Questions.
I gave GMAT club tests for quant and frequently scored Q50, gave Manhattan mocks (all 6), and official mocks (all 6)

-3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
Initially i gave mocks at random times and scores varied, but i gave official mock 5 and official mock 6 at exactly the same time my exam was, and scored 710 (V40, Q47) and 710 (V39, Q48) respectively.
However there were bunch of repeated questions for me in both the sections and in both the exams.

Goals:
4) What is your overall goal score?
720
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?
I want to get an admit to atleast one of the top 30 B Schools

Consider using question/time markers for time management. During Q3 and Q4 Verbal, for example, you had an average question time of 1:11 and 0:38 respectively. For SC, memorizing commonly tested idioms and, for RC, becoming familiar with how INFERENCE questions work could be helpful as well.

Quote:
My target was to cross 700, and i had scored 710 in both official mock 5 and 6, with a break up of V40 and Q47 and V39 and Q48 respectively.

How to get a V40 or higher on the GMAT? What about a V51?

Thanks a lot GmatTutorKnight for such a quick reply.
I have been practicing under timed conditions, but i am poor at judging when to guess the question, as a result i end up loosing the time for remaining questions.

Hi Prabhjeet,

I'm sorry to hear that Test Day didn't go as well as planned. When these types of score drops occur, the two likely "causes" involve either something that was unrealistic during practice or something that was surprising (or not accounted for) on Test Day. Before we discuss any of those potential issues though - and before we get to the data in your ESR - it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) What is your overall goal score?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

Thanks a lot Marty for a wonderful advice.
I think my reading and understanding speed of english is not fast enough to make me mark my responses quick. Especially in CR, in many questions i reread the argument twice to understand what exactly the argument is about and to understand in which direction i have to prethink.

Hi Prabhjeet,

Since you are interested in applying to some highly-competitive Schools, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement (and the more time that you have to implement those suggestions, the better). There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

https://gmatclub.com/forum/ask-admissio ... tants-124/

I've sent you a PM with an analysis of your ESR and some additional questions.

Hello Experts

I have made two attempts in the last year.
My scores are
1. 640 (Q44 V33)
2. 570 (Q45 V23)

My target score is 720.I used the Magoosh subscription with video lessons for the first attempt and the Gmat Club quiz for the second attempt. Attaching my ESR.
Can someone please guide me and help me understand where I went wrong and what should be my POA henceforth? Any advice would be of great help.

The ESR isn't showing. You probably need to hit a post requirement before being able to do so.

2. 570 (Q45 V23)

Consider checking out Manhattan-Prep's 6th Edition for SC and CR. Fair to say including official questions/official mocks into a prep path would be a solid choice. You can get e-versions of different guides from the MBA website.

Hi agarwalmahek088,

I'm sorry to hear that your 2nd attempt did not go as well as hoped. When these types of score drops occur, the two likely "causes" involve either something that was unrealistic during practice or something that was surprising (or not accounted for) on Test Day. Before we discuss any of those potential issues though, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals.

Before you can include attachments with your posts/PMs, you need to have at least 5 posts in the forums (it looks like you just hit your 5th post, so you should now be able to include attachments). You can feel free to PM it to me directly if you would rather not post it publicly.

Studies:
1) On what dates did you take your 2 Official GMATs?
2) How long have you studied in total? How many hours do you typically study each week?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) What is your overall goal score?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?
