Hi GMAT experts,
I am feeling a bit lost in my GMAT journey and looking for some input on where I can go from here. Yesterday I took my first official gmat exam and scored a 680 (Q44 V39). Unfortunately my time management on the verbal was no good, and I had to rush through/guess on 6 or so questions towards the end of the section. The last RC passage I knew I did not have time to fully understand and break down the passage, so I skimmed through very fast and pretty much made a quick guess on those questions. This had never happened on the mock exams, so I'm pretty bummed it was the case on test day. I'm surprised CR was so weak since it had always been the strongest on the mocks, and even on one mock I didn't get a single CR question wrong. SC has always been the weak area, so I'm perplexed about my performance on this section.
I started this journey in June and on my very first cold mock test I scored a 520 (Q25 V35)
Second mock test a month and a half later after mainly studying quant I scored a 710 (Q48 V38)
Third mock 2 weeks later after studying more verbal - 690 (Q42 V42)
Fourth mock a week later - 6680 (Q42 V41)
It seems my quant is all over the place, and this is the area I'm most looking to improve. If I can score a 48 in quant again on the official test, I would be happy with that score. The question is, do I retake online in a week or so to attempt to make it for round 1, or extend to round 2? I will be applying to schools within the top 20, and would like a score that is competitive at top schools. My goal is to score a 730 or higher.
Currently the struggle is identifying my weak areas, and making a plan to target those weak areas. So far I have been using TTP and OG questions.
Attaching my ESR, and please note that I have 50% extended time so the average time to answer each question is 3 minutes instead of 2. Thank you for taking the time to read!

It appears that, to achieve your GMAT score, you need to
- strengthen specific weaker areas of quant.
- work on accuracy and consistency in quant and verbal
- speed up in verbal
To strengthen weaker areas of quant, you can look at your ESR, use the TTP analytics, and consider what types of questions you don't like to see to determine what you weaker areas are. Then, you can master those areas one by one by first reviewing the relevant concepts and strategies and then practicing.
Much of your practice should be untimed. Untimed practice focused on achieving high accuracy and long streaks of correct answers is best for developing consistency.

The question is, do I retake online in a week or so to attempt to make it for round 1, or extend to round 2? I will be applying to schools within the top 20, and would like a score that is competitive at top schools. My goal is to score a 730 or higher.
You could try retaking soon to see whether you can have a good session and achieve your score. If you don't hit your score goal on that retake, then you could aim for round 2.
