Hi Folks,

I'm planning to take the GMAT again to improve on my current score of 710. I got 49 in quant and 35 in verbal. My verbal break percentile break-up was as follows 45% in RC, 91% in CR and 87% in SC. Assuming I can maintain my performance in CR and SC, how much should my RC % be improving in order improve my overall Verbal score to around 41-42?

Thanks a bunch!
Hey hi ,

Can you tell me whether you are able to answer all 36 qsns in alloted time in verbal ? or if u can detail your strategy as I am aiming for V35 and currently stuck at V30-31 in mocks ? Are u able to complete all RC's ?

Hi, apologies for the delay in responding. Yes I am able to complete all 36. That is not to say I haven’t felt rushed on a test before. You just need to have a general sense of where you need to be as the clock ticks down. I usually divide the section into 4 parts of 9 questions each and split the time accordingly as well. Beyond that the strategy is that don’t second guess yourself coming into the test. Whatever you know, you know and what you don’t, you likely won’t, so back your aptitude and test approach to begin with - doing this by itself saves time.
I personally go through answer options twice. 1st run should hopefully narrow down options to 1 or 2. If 2 or more, go through them again and move on. If you are still stuck between 2 or worse more options, you likely won’t get it anyway and waste precious time that you can give to other questions you know. Hope that helps. Good luck!
