Just got back from a long break - got engulfed in a work crisis..(not one of those with a happy ending..nor can it be spun into anything good on my MBA apps..sigh) But finally able to redevote some time now ..
Should I just delve straight in to essay writing for all my target schools ? Top MBA recommends doing Kellog essays first as it gives you a good overview of all MBA topics..Kellog is not one of my R1 target schools.. Would it be a good idea to attempt these essays anyways ?
All the posts here seem to indicate essays will improve with every school you write the essays for. I am worried i dont have enough time now to improve in time for october.. !

I wouldn't work on essays for a school you will not be applying to. If you are tight on time, that would strike me as a poor use of your time.
I would sit down and look at each school you are going to be applying to, and start with the school with the essays of the widest focus. Some schools have a very narrow essay, where some (like Kellogg) have broad subjects that you can use across many essays.
And most importantly, don't apply in R1 if the essays aren't ready.

My strategy is to pick the easiest essay that is due the earliest. In my case that's Ross (Oct 10th for R1).
Get that done and complete and worry about the others later.
