Hello!
I got accepted to ESSEC (MSc in Finance, 1-year program (M2)), EDHEC MiM Financial Economics (2 years), and Bocconi MSc in Finance (2 years). I have to make a choice in a week.
Short profile summary:
I want to stay in Europe/UK after obtaining my degree.
I would like to work in consulting, am an international student and don't know both languages (yet).
I have almost three-year work experience in KPMG audit department.
Could You please share your insights on the programs? Which is more internationally recognized? Is it hard to get a position in Europe in finance if you do not possess professional knowledge of a native language?
I am also confused about the rankings because EDHEC is MiM while ESSEC and Bocconi are MSc in Finance.
Thank You!!
Hi Deniz!
I think there's a relevant even though not enormous difference between on the one hand Bocconi, ESSEC and on the other hand Edhec program.
Bocconi and ESSEC MIF are both very highly recognized programs all around Europe. For Italy it's definitely better Bocconi, for France ESSEC. Outside these 2 countries but still in Europe I think Bocconi has a good advantage especially for London placement in IB.
However, you should absolutely consider the language factor as you have already mentioned. In Italy as well as in France knowing respectively Italian and French is essential, no doubts. There are literally no chance without a very good knowledge of the language.
To sum up, especially considering the cost differences which are too low to be considered relevant,ESSEC and Bocconi stand out. Bocconi is top of the notch in Italy, ESSEC is extremely good in France but behind HEC. Are both very well recognized but they both require language proficiency to work in the country.
Hope this really help! I wish you a smart choice!! Have a good day
