Something like this

Tell me of a time when you faced a difficult situation. What happened? How was it resolved?

Maybe I am reading this question at face value but it seems to me that this question is geared towards seeing how you handle tough situations aas opposed to ethics.

Sounds to me like its not about ethics per se. A tough situation might be a team member not pulling his or her own weight.

Thats an ethical question ;)

Teh trick here is that you have ot pick something that has TWO negative outcomes, or else its not a dilemma. I.e. Being asked to cook the books (falsify financial info) isn't an ethical dilemma per se, unless you have some other negative connotation to it - i.e. loosing your job if you refuse.

The best stories here are ones where there are two possibly negative outcomes and you have to pick one.

That help at all? I can try and be more specific.

Yup that is more than enough.....thanks a lot.

Now I can analyze some of my actions related to this question.

You know I would have loved to hear you say something specific. But I am afraid that your words may seem to good for me to discard.

Anyways... as always you have been a great help.

Here's a dilemma for you...my best friend who I worked with was involved with some unscrupulous activities @ the company. I was faced with the decision to either share this information with the CEO (thereby losing my friendship) or keep it to myself and hope it went away. I chose the former.

There is a difference between the two.

An ethical dilemma is when you are faced with a choice where choosing either path will lead to outcomes that are contrary to your VALUES.
Since it is often harder to choose amongst values, its a dilemma.

An ethical challenge is a situation when you are faced with a choice. Only one course of action is consistent with your values but you face significant personal loss/downside (not of values though) if you take that path. There is a temptation to go for a path that preserves your self-interests and to overcome that to uphold ethics is a challenge.

Kind of splitting hairs here imho.
