1) Take the GMATprep exam to benchmark where I am at.
This is just my opinion but I would'nt generally advice you to take the GMATprep exam before your prep . The reason is that you have only 2 of these exams available and you I feel you should'nt "waste" them earlier on . ( Yes , you can take retake them many times , but you will see repeated questions , which will dilute your score ) . I'd say take a
MGMAT CAT test . Again , this is just my opinion , if you really want to take a GMATprep test , then go ahead , there's absolutely nothing wrong with doing so .
Again don't attach too much importance to the score that you get . Instead , use this test as a reference to see which areas you need to spend more time on . A word of caution about the
MGMAT tests - The quant is slightly harder but the verbal section is slightly easier compared to the GMATprep tests .

2) Based on where I am deficient I will begin to work through the
Manhattan GMAT series.
This sounds fine . Make sure you do ALL the strategy guides and do them slowly so that you understand every thing that is said . Don't do the strategy guides just for the "heck of finishing it " as some people do .
3) I also have the OG for GMAT, Quant, and Verb (writing is a strength of mine so I am not terribly concerned about the AWA portion).
Good ; Also buy the GMAT prep question pack . These questions are also official GMAT questions , so they give you a good sense of what you can expect on test day .
I hope this helps . Good luck !
