Thank you very much for your input! I suppose my question could have been better put, "can subsequent achievement forgive or override past grades in the eyes of adcoms?" And if that answer is no, then that's the way it is. Thank you for honesty.

You are welcome!

Welllll, not entirely. The answer when it comes to Top 5 programs is no, because they have the run of the mill, and can choose people who have GPA AND GMAT AND come from a good school AND...

But for other schools in the Top 20 it WILL matter, and in fact you will for sure need to address the reasons behind why you did so poorly in UG, and how you changed in order to do better later on. So it DOES matter, but maybe less to a school like Harvard, which simply expects you to have done well anyway...

All the best,
JF

Thank you for setting me straight. Please forgive my excited Naievete! I have compiled a hopefully more realistic application list and would very much appreciate your input if you have the time!

7 applications - r2 2014-15.

Core5:

Wharton, Booth, Kellogg, Darden, Ross

with

2 prospective pairs for the other spots:

Haas and Kenan-Flagler

or

Yale and Anderson

Do either of those pairs strike you as rounding off an appropriate list, or am I still too aggressive in my choices? Di you think I have a chance of landing a hit?

Thank you so much again for your help!

Hey there,
Well if you are looking to round out your list in terms of balance, actually I'd recommend Anderson and Kenan-Flagler. Yale can be attractive because of their law school, and if you present the advantage of doing some law-realted stuff and show true love that might help too.

:)

Best of luck,
and if there's any other way I can help out, do not hesitate, dude...
Best,
JF
