Official Explanation

Choice (A) is irrelevant to the argument, without certain additional assumptions. Even if the same writers who write for television also write for movies, the passage provides no information about whether these writers would also strike against movie studios. Even if they would, we are not informed how the impending strike might affect the quality of new movie screenplays, if at all, and how this outcome might in turn affect movie-theater attendance and profits, if at all. (All of the other answer choices are necessary assumptions.)

The correct answer is (A).

they do not have to directly strike against movie studios

as long as they go on a strike, and if they write screenplays for movies too, this would mean that the screenplay for movies won't be available because of the strike

the writers would not actively plan for it but will be an indirect result of their strike against TV

so this is an assumption of the argument
