Jessica,
Thanks for your reply! I always see people with 600+ on this forum and it always makes me feel bad about my intelligence! I'm definitely not a good test taker (standardized - didn't do too well on SAT/ACT either). But I'm proud to attend one of the top 10 accounting programs in the US.
I have not looked into the
error log, but it looks like this will definitely be helpful. I am going to reinforce my quantitative score, I don't know if I can improve it any further. But I know my verbal definitely needs to be improved to at least 25-28, because 20 is just awfully low. The thing is when I was going through the test, I felt fairly confident with quantitative (and that comes first). That gave me a pretty good feeling when I entered the verbal section (after my 8 minute break). I don't know if I felt too cocky or over confident when entering verbal section, causing me to perform poorly.
For RC, if a passage is boring, it is usually more difficult to answer the questions, obviously. That's why I'm always worried about getting boring passages. Also, usually the extremely scientific ones are more difficult I think. As for CR, I'm just bad all around, I guess I am not really a logical person at all. And for SC, it's like 50/50 I think. I always thought I was decent with English/grammar but I guess not. And I thought I did well on the SC for my last GMAT test, but apparently not. I wish they gave a breakdown of how many problems you miss and/or the type of problems you miss, SC/RC/CR, and data sufficiency/problem solving.
When I took my practice CATs, I did simulate real testing conditions as much as possible, with brief pausing where necessary. I even bought the
Manhattan GMAT Test Simulation Booklet + Marker because using paper/pen is A LOT different than writing on that yellow graphing test booklet.
My desired MAcc program does not require Integrated Reasoning, so I didn't even try on the IR portion of my 2nd exam so I can mentally prepare myself for Quantitative/Verbal. I even wrote down formulas and things I can quickly refer back to on my testing booklet DURING the IR portion of the test.
I feel like taking more practice CATs won't help too much, I need to improve on my verbal a lot...
Well I don't know, there is so much pressure to score at least the 500 mark on this 3rd AND FINAL attempt of the GMAT. The MAcc advisers have been very nice and lenient about submitting a late score, but they will not accept if it is under 500. But, at least if I get 500, it is guaranteed admissions since I will have their required GPA.
I'm not sure what else to do.. any further advice is always appreciated.
