Re: Excuse me, I would like to know what the difference between [#permalink]
Could you read the question 1 about Sentence Correction in Official Guide?

in answer choice E, ETS said that choice E includes an incorrect verb tense and wrongly replaces when with as. I would like to know why we cannot use as.

Choice E: that has occurred as each was a child

Re: Excuse me, I would like to know what the difference between [#permalink]
as = during the time that (a span of time)
when = a point of time.

That's the basic difference!
