Excuse me, I would like to know what the difference between the usage of as and when.

Now that both of them are conj., what the difference?

In what kind of condition, we can only use when but cannot use as?

thank you

Could you read the question 1 about Sentence Correction in Official Guide?

in answer choice E, ETS said that choice E includes an incorrect verb tense and wrongly replaces when with as. I would like to know why we cannot use as.

Choice E: that has occurred as each was a child

as = during the time that (a span of time)
when = a point of time.

That's the basic difference!
