Hi all

To those that have taken the EA for FT, what were your experiences like? I took the GMAT and scored a 615, and subsequently took a mock EA and scored a 157 with no additional prep.

I’m looking to apply to NYU and Columbia; from what I hear they look for a high 150 score. Would a 157 (assuming mock holds up to the actual) be competitive for these full time programs or should I aim for a 160+? For those that got into top programs FT and took the EA, what score did you guys report?
(FWIW I had a 3.4 on Management Information Systems so not sure if I need to balance out the slightly lower GPA with a higher score)

A score of 157 on the EA can be competitive for full-time MBA programs at institutions like NYU and Columbia, but aiming for a higher score may enhance your application. Although some programs’ expectations are met by scores in the higher range, such as 160 or even more, others still consider it decent. However, many candidates who have been admitted successfully claimed that their scores were upwards of 160; therefore, striving to get into the range of 160+ could make you better placed for admission, particularly in consideration of your GPA. There are other considerations made by the Adcoms, such as test scores in addition to personal statement submissions, work experience, and leadership potential. So, if you think there is room for improvement before taking another step forward, do not let go of this chance because increasing the EA rating would neutralize your GPA, bringing strength across all areas when considering your application.
