Hi all,
I have been admitted to the MSc in Finance program at Bocconi and I have until May 6th to pay the deposit (2k euro). However, I had an interview at LBS for the MFA program and I'm still waiting for the results which will come out on May 7th.
How should I proceed in this case? Is it possible for Bocconi to extend their enrollment period? Or should I try to ask LBS for their decision before they officially announce it? Does anyone have experience with extending enrollment / getting admit decisions before deadline?
It is common for MBA and non-MBA masters to grand several day extensions. Because all schools like to have as a high of a yield as possible, many would prefer to give you a couple more days to decide than lose you. I would email your admissions contact to get formal approval prior to taking any liberties with a late answer, though. You should reach out sooner rather than later.
A 2k euro deposit, though a spicy meatball, is relatively low compared to the overall price of a masters. If Bocconi is a school you'd be excited to attend if you aren't accepted to LBS, then you may consider making the deposit to hold your spot if you can't get an extension. Just make sure if you do this that your deposit isn't binding and that there aren't any penalties besides forfeiting money if you decide not to attend.
