(10^8 - 10^2)/(10^7-10^3)
10^2(10^6 - 1)/10^2(10^5 - 10)
the 10^2s cancel out leaving (10^6 - 1)/(10^5 - 10)
given the size of the numbers and the answers, the -1 and -10 are inconsequential, so you're left with 10^6/10^5 which is 10.
