Taking mocks at the comfort of home on one's own computer is very different from the actual test at the test center. I learnt it the hard way. Scored a very poor 610 whereas my mock results hovered around 700. The initial pre-exam tension, lack of proper sleep the night before added with poor test center environment impacted my concentration. I was seeing the questions but couldnt comprehend anything. Moreover the verbal section started with 2 long passages back to back. I spent too much time and in order to make up for the time, i messed up the remaining questions too. The poor performance in verbal impacted my quant too as my mind was too occupied with how i messed it up. Ultimately i scored a v25q48. Didnt accept the score out of frustration.
I took a few days break, consulted with Kalyan from Scoreleap who had been with me throughout the preparation process. He analysed my mock results for strengths and weaknesses and fine tuned my overall appoach. My rc skills also improved considerably with his FIRE approach, and i got better at time management. The motivation and mental support i got from Kalyan were absolutely necessary after a bad exam experience. Finally built up the courage to give the exam 25 days later and scored a 710 v36q50.
P.S. this time got proper sleep the night before and meditated for 15 mins before the start of the exam to boost up my concentration level. Luckily the test center was empty too as i was the only candidate at that time slot.
