Wow that is a lot of resources you have listed. I guess it makes sense to go through these only if you have at least 6 months to go for your test. Most of us struggle to complete the RC passages in the OGs and other books. Thanks for the list though.

Hi Namip,

I put together all these resources because everyone has a difficulty with different topics. So, each person can select what they want from the list and read up more to increase proficiency. Although GMAT does not really test vocabulary, unfamiliar RC passages (topics one has never come across) or the 'disliked' topics can be really tedious and so this is a good place to start reading up more!

It need not take 6 months (probably not even 1 month) once the difficult topics/subjects are identified.

Hope that helps :)

Hi All,

Since most seem to have a difficulty with Reading Comprehension, I have consolidated a few sources for further reading based on the fact that most passages are from social sciences, physical or biological sciences, or business related issues like marketing, economics or human resource management. Although the websites below have nothing to do with GMAT, they can be excellent sources of reading material to understand and get used to a variety of subjects and also the vocabulary.

Harvard Magzine, https://harvardmagazine.com/
Scientific American, https://www.scientificamerican.com/
TheEconomist, https://www.economist.com/
The Wall Street Journal https://online.wsj.com/public/page/news- ... world.html
University of Chicago Magzine, https://mag.uchicago.edu/
ScienceDaily, https://www.sciencedaily.com/
The Atlantic, https://www.theatlantic.com/
BusinessWeek, https://www.businessweek.com/
GlobalPost, https://www.globalpost.com/
Phys.org, https://phys.org/
National Geographic, https://www.nationalgeographic.com/
Academic Journals https://www.academicjournals.org/journals.htm

Let me know if there are any other useful resources out there...

All the Best!

Hi PraachiK,

It's VERY nice of you to compile this list. Academic journals tend to be the most GMAT-like, so of all of the sources you posted https://www.academicjournals.org/journals.htm, is probably the most valuable. The most GMAT relevant pieces of academic journal articles are the abstract and intro, and conclusion.

The best source of free journal content out there is JSTOR.org You can select pieces that are available for PDF download.

IMPORTANT: After working with 1000s of GMAT students, I can tell you that the most important issue really isn't how much you read, or reading any of this supplementary content, but instead training HOW to read for GMAT question success:

    With intensity and care
So that you take interest in what you're reading

Taking interest in what you read usually takes care of the first one. We actually have a free lesson dedicated to How To Read An RC Passage, including specific questions to ask yourself to boost interest, here: https://www.empowergmat.com/free-workshop/, then open the VERBAL: How To Read An RC Passage lesson.
