Guys,

Do people stretch how involved they are with ECs, in terms of hours, responsibilities? Meaning, they are not making things up, but stretching to sound like they have leadership potential and stuff?

How detailed will the background check be? I can't imagine schools calling up schools/ every single non profit to make sure every line item including all the projects and hours on the CV is correct.

is this right? Or they will. It's hard to confirm what tasks you do at a non-profit/ volunteering though.

Or background checks usually revolve around your work history and salary/ bonus, not necessarily extracurriculars?

You don't want to build a career on lies, or be struck with an awkward moment at the interview where it becomes obvious you are lying.
