Hi Experts,

I have been preparing for the GMAT for the last ~4 months & have gotten the following scores in my mocks. I aim to hit 700+, however, unfortunately, I have not been able to cross that huddle on first attempt mocks and hence have been postponing the exam. I took all the mocks twice and saw some improvement in the second attempts.
Although I did not see a single repeat question, I felt the 2nd attempt questions were slightly easier. Do you think the second attempt scores reflect the actual Gmat level? Has anyone experienced this firsthand/ heard from their students? If you would still estimate my average score to be around 645-655, what do you recommend as the next steps?

All these tests were taken in strictly test-like conditions.
Many thanks for considering my post :) @Bunnel bb KarishmaB @ScottTargetTestPrep @GMATNinja @MartyMurray
I agree with what BB and Ajitesh said above. Looks like you are around 675 - 695. It is a good place to be in. Plan to take the test soon. Ensure that you rest enough before the test and go in with a fresh mind. That itself may be enough to push your score about 700.
If you want to be extra sure, identify some areas in which you may have consistently underperformed in the practice tests. Fix those and then take the test asap.

Thank you, everyone :)

I took the test and scored 685; Q-88; V-85; DI-79 :(. I feel this score might not be good enough for my target schools (M7s). I am a finance graduate from the University of Delhi (India) & currently work at a consulting firm (MBB) in India (~3 years). Prior experience with an Investment bank (2 years).

Since I will be applying from an overrepresented group of candidates in R2. What are your thoughts on retaking the test? - Also, which coaching institute has the best DI practice material? I have solved the official guide & review book so far for DI :)

Right on target! 685 is a good score and will be about the average of the top schools. But yes, you belong to an overrepresented demography though I would think that a consultant can better evaluate your overall profile. I would suggest you to talk to one and then decide whether you need a retake.

Hi AK1501,

Congrats on the 685. That's an amazing score. :)

I wouldn't necessarily retake if I were you. 685 is like a 740 on the old GMAT, and could work for you at even the best schools. That said, that DI score of 79 does seem like something you could improve... Maybe go for it, but focus on your applications?

Sorry for the (non)answer, but you're already in a pretty good place, and there are no wrong choices here for you.

All the best!

685 is a great score! Regarding whether to retake the GMAT, I do think that it would be helpful to reach out to a few admissions consultants to get a better idea of how to move forward.
