Hi,
I am a female, 40 years of age from India. I haven't yet taken GMAT as I am not sure about going in for higher study at this late a stage. It would be great if I can get my profile assessment and also an advise on whether a post graduation (MBA/Masters) or a sloan programme will help my career. My work profile is as follows -
Summary -
Over 17 years of experience in General Management, Operations, Product Management, Program
Management, Financial Inclusion, Contact and Contactless Cards, Near Field Communication (NFC),
Mobile Payment Systems (Wallets), Automated Fare Collection (AFC), Banking Domain, Electronic Card
Payment Systems, Regulatory Framework, Bank Relationship Management, Vendor Management,
Handheld Terminals, STQC Certification for Biometric Devices and Visa PCI Certification
Education:
1. Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communications from Bhopal University with 70% in 1999
2. Management development programme for senior management from IIM Ahmedabad in 2009
Work Experience
1. Started my career as a software engineer in IIT Bombay (from 1999 to 2003)
2. Then joined a startup in payment industry and worked my way up from being a software engineer to the COO position in about 6 years.
3. Started a not for profit company which extensively worked in the area of financial inclusion especially in rural areas and remittances in urban areas.
4. Worked for about a year in 2011-12 in a North African country as a consultant for a payment and identification project.
5. Worked in a UK based startup (in India) as head - product development. This startup was working to design and manufacture low cost, energy efficient, innovative devices mainly deployable in payment industry.
6. Founded a private limited company which works in the space of Biometric and NFC based device development, and payments (including smart card and wallet based)
I would like to to a post graduation if it helps my career prospects in big established companies as well as other start ups, a brand, and network. Ofcourse I should be able to recover the investments proportionately as well considering that I have about 20/25 years of work life ahead to look forward to.
Regards,
Sarika
Hey Sarika,
Very good to hear from you!
It seems like you have had an interesting and illustrious career. Would love to hear more about your company BTW.
Overall, for most full-time MBA you may be a bit on the older side. And you may want to consider applying to Part-time programs/EMBAs which would likely far more fit your profile and goals than regular full-time MBA program.
Best,
Jon
